This route needs a little explanation.
First, I wish there was some rating between "pleasant" and spectacular
because this route is much, much more than "pleasant."
There´s another caveat; at the CO/UT border 318 enters Utah
and turns into a hard packed gravel/dirt road until it Ts into Hwy 191.
Not to worry though; we were two up on a Gold Wing and two solo Harley
Softails and we made it without incidence.
CO318 is one of the "Lost Highways" found on Butler Maps and indeed it is all that.
While not spectacular in the Colorado River Way or Escalante Staircase sense,
it is spectacular in it´s desolation and remoteness.
The vistas and sense of being in the proverbial "middle of nowhere" are awe
inspiring and the road is a lot of fun to ride.
Yes, it´s slow going over the last section but it´s worth
every mile especially it when you find yourself on the Green River and Hwy 191.
