Leave behind the noisy Athens via E94 to Korinthos
and after passing it turn left to follow road signs
for Epidavros. Nice windy road within patches of nice
scenery and proceed to the ancient site of Epidavros.
Most interesting site is the amphitheatre, a well preserved
monument of the glorious Greek history. The whole place is
a "museum", scattered around you can see leftovers of the
ancient establishment.
Continue towards Nafplio, a beautiful small town
especially at the seafront cafes and tavernas with a great
view of the Argolikos bay. Visit also the old part of
the first capital of Greece after the revolution of 1821,
very close to the seafront, and walk through the narrow streets
especially during the evenings which the atmosphere is more
intensive.
Another great feature of the town is the castle/fort of
Palamidi located on a hill, easy to see, which will
give an even greater view of the bay. The tiny island of
Bourzi lying very close to the seafront which used
to be a prison is accessible by boat for the curious and
explorers.
This route is compatible with the one to Githio.
Notes: Gas stations and other facilities are
available / cautious while riding in Greek country side /
all season route.
