Guillestre to Barcelonnette section ( Col de Vars )
Scenery spectacular over the top, the surface on the southern half is better, not so good on the north side. Good short cut instead of main road to the west. The D902 seems to go on for ever, probably make a tour in itself.

Leave Briancon on N94 heading south, okay road with plenty of passing places and good surface. At Mont Dauphin, take left turn towards Guillestre and then right at mini-roundabout and head up into the mountains towards the Col de Vars (2111m) and the ski resorts then down the other side towards Jausiers on the D900. The cafe at the top of the Col gives a break and photo opportunity! On the way down you pass under two Vauban forts at Mont Dauphin and Fort Tournoux.
