Fantastic hidden gem less than 30 minutes from Townsville turning left at Woodstock on the Townsville-Charters Towers road.Besides being a little known shortcut when travelling from the West South avoiding entering Townsville, this 20 minute drive/ride winds it way through pleasant rural surrounds at the base of the Great Dividing Range, passing through rural residential, horse spelling, a camel stud, and cane fields. This is a great ride on any bike but watch out for roadkill, Eagles, wallabies, Roos, dingos, and other wildlife particularly through winter, the dry season.Far more interesting then the Bruce Highway, and has a series of long straights, sweepers, and tight narrow creek crossings. An excellent ride, fun, almost deserted of traffic, and really quite scenic. A must-do if your around Townsville, particularly if you continue on to Ayr a busy cane farming rural centre, with numerous fantastic eateries and wonderful coffee shops. Try the Chill Parlour coffee shop next to the Delta Cinemas in the Main Street !
