The mount morgan range itself is relatively short, twisty bit of road up the side of a hill, with plenty of hairpin bends to get your lean on. The surface, however, looks a lot like a tin roof, with intense corrugations around most corners. There are a few with a smooth line though, and its short enough that you can do a few trips up and down to find the best line.
There is an alternate way back down the range, known as the Razorback, which is much less twisty, but still and enjoyable road. The map on this website is a little wrong in that area, and doesn't show it joining up, but be assured that it does.
Other than the range and razorback, the rest of the ride from rockhampton is pretty flat and simple, just watch the cops on the Capricorn highway if you head back through Gracemere.
