My buddy and I have done this route several times. There's a nice watering hole, called The Junction with decent grub and good decent choice of beers. it's already listed on here, but if you head west, you'll end up in San Jose. In Livermore there is a really nice Brew Pub on the main street. They have about 30 beers on tap and continuously changing them out.
