A great fun road, easily missed for those tunnel focused on getting to the Alpine Ranges. Twists are tight and give a great opportunity to get rid of those chicken strips. A few corners have corrugation forming from cars (2015) but nothing out of the ordinary.
I road this section of road in the opposite direction from Bega > Bomballa. Its probably best described as a road of two halves. The first section starts off from Bega as an undulating free flowing road with straights and open corners that tempt you into some high speeds. Excellent for getting your eye in and the tyres warmed up. The second half commences when you hit the base of the mountain and start the climb. The tarmac was in great condition when I road it in 2012. The road inspires confidence on the tight up hill corners where each corner is closely followed by the next letting you get into a great rhythm. You reach the top of the mountain with a smile on the face before you open the visor for some fresh air and let the adrenaline subside.
A great mix of corners: sections of quick turns and others long and sweeping. Road surface is very good most of the time.
Mostly good and quite new surface but with a few patchy, gravelly spots. Excellent corners and nice run down to the coast.
