Nice but busier than I would have liked. The turns are wide, not tight, so for me the ride was a bit over rated for its reputation. Don´t get me wrong this is a very nice ride, but I found St. Joe´s River road that we did on our return, to be a far and away superior ride for me. I prefer tighter turns and less traffic.
Hundreds of perfect sweeping corners aside a beautiful mountain river
Rode from Lolo town to Powell Junction and back. Once you reach the mountain it becomes non-stop high speed sweepers, with a few tighter turns thrown in to keep your right hand busy. A beautiful road. Why is Montana´s speed limit 70 while Idaho is 50?
Probably one of the best known Idaho rides. The US12 takes in the Lolo Pass and the Bitterroot Mountains. A quite long but very enjoyable ride.
Overall I gave this road a "Very Good" but if the asphalt were a bit better it'd be nirvana. Turning off Hwy 93 westbound onto Hwy 12, you quickly come to a large, flashing caution sign, "Warning: Curves Next 99 MIles." Well, that pretty much says it all. This road winds along a decent size river for most of it's length. The curves come one after another, after another - in short, it needs to be on your "bucket" list. Make sure you're topped off too.
Very entertaining. Watch for speed change from Mt. to ID
