One of my favourite rides in the UK. The A714 offers a few fast straights, but its beauty lies in sweeping bends, a few tight curves and great views of the River Cree and the Southern Uplands. Theres a shop and a pub in Barrhill for a tea break.
The B7027 (Knowe Road) is mostly single track and bends like a bendy thing. Great views of Loch Maberry and the Merrick. Watch for mud & leaves at the colder end of the year. Used to be plagued by Forestry trucks, but now few & far between.
In the forested area there are a few Roe Deer, and given Bambis adverse effect on road handling, eyes peeled all the way.
