I'm in love with the 230. It's my kind of road - Fast, Flowing, and full of adrenalin induced insanity - Sportsbike territory at it's finest. Huge mountains, awesome dams and resevoirs, plenty of stop offs if you like, and a few b&b's if you wanna stay a while. I pledge to return with my crazy Welsh biker mates sometime in the near future. Check out the vids :)
This route is a real BUZZ! Its as close as you will get to a race track on a public road. Not to be missed. Can be combined with the N123 down to Barbasto
Just to add a bit more detail to my original review: Nothing really happens until you get to the first dam and the tunnel section, after this the road comes to life. A pefect blend of corners, visibility, good surface and breathtaking scenary bombard your senses in video game style. Although the surface is not perfect, it somehow comes together as a sublime biking experience. 13 short tunnels through rock in quick succession, a mountain reservoir gives an interesting view. The road then calms down a bit before running along another reservoir and through a 4km tunnel, then down to Vielha. A pretty amazing road in all.
Four of us hit this road on our way to Graus from the Millau bridge in France. Believe me this is an awsome section of road following a gorge through a mountainous region. Just when you think it's over it keeps on thrilling you. When you finally come to a point where you just have to stop and discuss it with your mates the only question is, have we got time to ride it again? Dont forget to video it so you can relive it all over again back in blighty with your mates and a few cold ones. Enjoy!!!
A very varied section that climbs spectacularly up a mountain, then ducks into a 5k tunnel. After that it twists and turns like crazy before some higher speed corners on the way to Benabarre. Well worth a look. Pont de Suert and the excellent N260 cross this route at about the halfway point (perhaps the best road in Spain).
