One of my favourite roads in Europe and one that is off the radar. One person suggests it is too short = it isn if you ride it 3 times! Thats what I did because it was too good not to. The climb isn just all hairpins as it winds its way to the top so you can ride it very fast. A road one can actually use their knee sliders.
NotarianSo many corners, done this on my Hornet, fantastic, and on my Divvy900 fully loaded and two up, a little more sedate!!! If you can do hairpins by the time youve done this one give up. Only real problem is that trucks tend to cut the hairpins on the way up and invariably drag gravel on to the road with their inside wheels.
When you get to the tunnel at the top make sure you stop and look back down from the viewing area just to prove to yoruself what youve just done.
My favorite region to ride between Valence and Grenoble while heading between Spain and Germany!
Hope to be on this road 5/9/10 yet again!
Enjoy this region more then Stelvio Pass or other pass road in the Alps. Those other roads are almost overrun with young bikers trying to kill themselves.
Breath taking scenery and the scents of the herbs permiate the air.
Fantastic piece of road. Loads of nice hairpins followed by short straights will give your brakes and gearbox a really thorough workout. Carry on through the tunnel at the top for some excellent roads in the Vercour region - there was no traffic at all on the roads when I passed through in early September.
emelgeeExcellent piece of road that climbs about a 1000 meters in 19km's of very twisty roads with excellent views of the valley. Look out for the 'count down ' markers coming up to some of the hairpin bends.
