Did this route yesterday and definitely an awesome ride with wonderful views. Roads were mostly in great state and a very small section with some pot holes however they were marked for repairs. Some roadkill on the sides. My only uncertainty was whether to enjoy the views or enjoy the bends. Well worth it.
Great route. Passes a superb pub in Herriad called the fur and feathers which serves the best home cooked meals in the county. Also passes All Things Motorcycles who provide ceramic coating and detailing services (marked on map as STV Motorcycles.
On the third time I attempted the trip, I got pulled by the police in an unmarked car. This was mid-week, unfortunately the South downs are quite heavy patrolled - especially around the Winchester area. Witnessed many roadkills on the route too, watch out for those. Some really beautiful scenery, and great technical bits around the Alton area.
Mainly fast and winding uninterrupted A & B roads, technical too. Great all round circuit.
