Great quickie blast

Despite living in Hampshire and my home town being Elgin - travelling back and forth over the last 20 years I only travelled this road for the first time 5 months ago. Really enjoyed it. 100 miles Edinburgh to Carlisle so I don have a detailed memory of the route but great bends, plenty of overtaking places and all at the speed limit (ie Satnav speed - plus 10% plus 2mph - which on my TDM clock is just under 70). or me a great alternative to the lovely A68.

An excellent road running south from Edinburgh to Carlisle however, I found that after Selkirk, the challenging corners become rarer and the police prescence rises.
Not to worry, because, the A7 is also a very useful link road to other great routes. Clovenfords, Peebles, Coldstream, Moffat have all got good roads around them. And with a little exploring, you can find a perfect afternoons ride. I used to ride these roads very evening in the Summer, and occasionally, they can be almost traffic free.
Some great, well surfaced bends that can be taken confidently with a little practise. Im in Australia now but I miss this road sooo much.

A nice biking A class road with a nice selection of corners, watch for overtaking traffic and some blind farm openings especially south of Stow. Sunken drain holes can also be a hazard at times.

Very short route on a fairly busy road which originates from Edinburgh although this is the most interesting section due to some nice bends allied with a few opportunities to pick up some speed! There can be a police presence especially near to Gala, there is a parking place where they frequently wait in ambush.

A high speed section with quite a few straights and some nice high speed corners. As this is main road, there's not much room for error (run off) available on the corners, so be careful
