From Salida east to cotapaxi has tight curves along huge Rock formations in the canyon along the Arkansas river. Road is excellent. There is minimal fast moving traffic on this stretch. Easy to miss the right turn on 1-A. There is a gas station and country store at the turn. Use GPS. from there to Westcliff is a climbing twisting road with amazing views with massive mountains in distance. To a high plateau. Little traffic. Westcliff has cool shops and cafes/taverns. Can continue east or south to extend the ride with more of the same roads and scenery. Great ride!
Canyon ride from Salida to Cotapaxi then climb a mountain road to Westcliff Colorado. Twisting winding ride through the canyon on Rte 50 then turn right on 1A in Cotapaxi, continue into the hills and turn right at Rte 69. Finish in Westcliff with shoppes, cafes, taverns. Return to Salida.
