This road is spectacular. It starts by the river, and runs along side it, gradually climbing until you are way above the rive, which is hundreds of meters below you in the most spectacular gorge made from red rock. The views are not for the faint hearted, as one error and you are dead!! But for pure rural joy with magnificent scenery, this one is hard to beat. When I did it I got stuck in a traffic jam.......of sheep and goats!! About 2000 of them, being marched to market by shepherds. We waited at least 10 minutes as they flocked past us in their hundreds, their bells ringing in our ears. Truly wonderful
This is actually a part of the col de la Bonette route. The gorge is really impressive, with the rocks in cliff edges in a dark red color!
